Passive learning of conditional preferences
نویسنده
چکیده
This research is concerned with learning a model of a user’s behaviour to accurately make predictions that reflect the user’s decision making process. We focus on learning the user’s preferences or utility function in a passive setting and extend previous approaches by allowing for both trade-offs and conditional preferences. We investigate suitable preference representation methods, and frame this as an abductive logic programming approach which can make use of domainspecific background knowledge (e.g., expressed in first-order logic) to guide the learning process. Furthermore, we want to enhance this approach to a probabilistic framework by making use of recent advances in the area of Statistical Relation Learning in order to deal with the inherent uncertainties that result from making inferences from passive observations in real-world settings.

Learning Ordinal Preferences on Multiattribute Domains: The Case of CP-nets
A recurrent issue in decision making is to extract a preference structure by observing the user’s behavior in different situations. In this paper, we investigate the problem of learning ordinal preference orderings over discrete multi-attribute, or combinatorial, domains. Specifically, we focus on the learnability issue of conditional preference networks, or CPnets, that have recently emerged a...

متن کاملPerceptual Learning Style Preferences and Computer-Assisted Writing Achievement within the Activity Theory Framework
Learning styles are considered among the significant factors that aid instructors in deciding how well their students learn a second or foreign language (Oxford, 2003). Although this issue has been accepted broadly in educational psychology, further research is required to examine the relationship between learning styles and language learning skills. Thus, the present study was carried out to in...
متن کاملThe Effect of Using Mobile apps on the Acquisition of Conditional Sentences among Iranian Intermediate EFL Learners
Nowadays, there has been an increasing interest in the integration of technology in pedagogical purposes. This study was an attempt to delve in to the impact of a mobile application (Cushy Grammar) on the learning of conditional sentences (type1, 2 and 3) among Iranian intermediate EFL learners in Rooyesh institute in Isfahan. To this end, a group of 75 intermediate EFL learners were non-random...

This study was intended first to categorize the L2 learners in terms of their learning style preferences and second to investigate if their learning preferences are related to lexical inferencing. Moreover, strategies used for lexical inferencing and text related issues of text density and parts of speech were studied to determine their moderating effects and the best predictors of lexical infe...
